ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Macdonald-Cartier Academy is dedicated to excellence in academics,
athletics, English and French communication skills and technology, in
addition to the development of leadership, social responsibility and a
sense of Canadian identity. A similar dedication is expected of
Macdonald-Cattier students. It is essential that applicants understand
and respect this commitment. Accordingly, it is strongly recommended
that both the prospective student and parent(s) meet with the
Headmaster in order to discuss enrollment at Macdonald-Cattier Academy.
1. ACADEMIC PREPAREDNESS
i) Prior to acceptance, all students must successfully complete qualifying examinations. Normally these examinations are taken in the fall of the year prior to entrance. These examinations consist of standardized tests in English, mathematics and French. Students are expected to achieve a minimum of "grade-level" performance in the first two of these areas of evaluation. The standardized tests in French are used to ensure proper placement according to language ability. Preparation for these objective tests is not necessary.
ii) Applicants must submit a copy of their most recent report card.
(This should be forwarded with the completed application form.)
2. PERSONAL INTERVIEW
Applicants will be interviewed by a Macdonald-Cattier Academy administrator. The interview is designed to determine the applicant's willingness to work within a disciplined and "French only" environment, and to verify the accuracy of reports submitted.
In order to initiate the application process, please complete the Application Form on the last page of this brochure, and mail it to:
270 Crichton Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1M 1W4
enclosing the testing fee of $60.00.
